Who says studying a language has to be boring and discouraging for your child?
We encourage children to practice Armenian by playing language-based games. Games create an active learning atmosphere and practicing Armenian through games will help your child be alert and engaged. Here’s how language-learning and gaming can go hand in hand.
- Increase memory capacity
- Children will recall rules, remember game sequences, and develop their problem-solving skills by combining past information with new lessons.
- Improve strategic thinking and problem-solving
- Your child will develop strategic thinking by being motivated to solve language-based obstacles in games and seeing what outcomes their decisions make.
- Increase attention span
- Language games will hold your child’s attention longer because your child will be determined to participate in engaging content.
- Provide active interaction and engagement
- Unlike the conventional learning method, language games provide active involvement for your child as opposed to passive listening and repeating.
- Increase motivation
- Language games motivate your child by hands-on active learning opportunities. Your child will be driven to accomplish current tasks and move forward all while learning Armenian!
Disappearing Color Game
This game is designed to teach colors in Armenian but designed to strengthen your child’s deductive reasoning skills. They are doing something “smart” using their Armenian, not just communicating with grandpa or grandma.
We want children to learn the Armenian language for communication AND for deductive reasoning, all while having fun!
How to Play:
1. Teach the names of 5 colors in Armenian and show your child the crayons or colored pencils. Ask the child to repeat.
2. Show your child all 5 colors in your hand.
3. Tell them that you will be removing one of the colors from your hand.
4. Ask your child to guess which color was removed (but in Armenian.)
